Fort Lauderdale, FL — A Down South Hip-Hop & Food Exclusive

Down South culture has always been more than music — it’s lifestyle, food, and community. Trick Daddy, Miami’s rap legend, has tapped into all three by expanding his soul food empire. Sunday’s Eatery, long a staple in Miami Gardens, has officially opened its second location in Fort Lauderdale’s historic Sistrunk neighborhood, and the energy feels like a new record dropped.

🎶 From Carol City to Sistrunk

The grand opening drew a line of more than 200 people, stretching around the block like fans waiting for an album release. Trick pulled up in a red Tesla Cybertruck, greeting the crowd, taking pictures, and reminding everyone this wasn’t just business — this was family. His mission has always been to feed the people and invest where it matters most.

🥘 A New Anchor for Soul Food

The move was personal for managing partner Sharrod Robinson, who said Broward residents already made up nearly 30% of their Miami Gardens customer base. “Being born and raised in Miami, I love the way Broward County has a certain type of countryness,” he shared. With the closing of iconic Betty’s Soul Food earlier this year, Sunday’s Eatery is stepping in to carry the torch.

🏙️ Investing in Black Neighborhoods

Trick could have chosen Wynwood or South Beach, but he stayed true to his mission: building in Black neighborhoods. “We wanted to show our people that we are still for our people,” he said. Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Robert McKinzie welcomed the move: “This was our thriving economic engine back in the day when we were kids, and now you have another mainstream entertainer that wants to invest here.”

✈️ Why Texas Should Tap In

For Texans, this is a road trip worth making. Just like Aunt Irene’s in Dallas or The Breakfast Klub in Houston, Sunday’s Eatery is more than a plate — it’s culture. From fried ribs to golden catfish and cornbread, every bite carries a piece of South Florida soul. And Trick’s vision doesn’t stop here: “Y’all get ready… we coming,” he teased, with plans to expand to Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and Jacksonville.

So if you’re about beats, bass, and soul plates, Sistrunk’s newest landmark is waiting. Dallas — pack a bag and pull up.
