Big Spain Returns to BossTalk 101: A Cultural Reset for Dallas & the Boogie Movement

Dallas, TX — For the first time in over two years, Big Spain pulled up to BossTalk 101, delivering an interview that was as impactful as it was necessary for the culture. With the weight of Dallas history behind him, Spain used the platform to remind the world of his role in shaping the Boogie Movement, while also giving the city its flowers in real time.
The Boogie Legacy
One of the most powerful moments came when Spain revisited the ongoing Plies lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion and Soulja Boy over the infamous “infrared countdown beat.” Spain revealed he was there when the beat was purchased from producer Nitti and doubled down that the Lil Wil version, “My Dougie,” was the record that made the sound viral. For Spain, this wasn’t just about beats—it was about culture. He crowned himself the Michael Jordan of the Boogie while still paying homage to pioneers like Mr. Hit That, Fat Pimp, Trap Starz, and Young Black.

Spain emphasized that the Boogie originated in Oak Cliff, which he then carried into North Dallas before pushing it beyond the city through early YouTube connections, eventually influencing dance waves in California, Atlanta, and Florida. To him, the Boogie isn’t one move—it’s the umbrella for classics like the Rack Daddy, Franky, Stanky Leg, and the new-age Bend.
Dallas Pride & Culture
The sit-down wasn’t just about music. Big Spain made sure Dallas itself stood front and center. He called Dallas the Fried Chicken Capital of the U.S., proudly repping Rudy’s Chicken as the city’s cultural hub where stars like Big X Tha Plug, 4 Batz, Rainwater, and even pro athletes stop by. He even joked he’d take on anyone in a “fry-off.”

Spain also laid out his dream of creating a Dallas itinerary for visitors: start with a meal at Rudy’s, shop at Big T Bazaar, and—most importantly—sit down with BossTalk 101 for a real taste of the city. That shout-out underscored his love for the platform and its role in documenting Dallas greatness.
A Man With Testimony
Since coming home two years ago, Spain has leaned fully into his OG role, blending stories of survival, jail lessons, and street wisdom with a spirit of gratitude. From giving flowers to the New Dallas movement led by Big X Tha Plug, to carrying the torch for the Boogie, Big Spain proved in this interview why he’s more than just a pioneer—he’s a cultural pillar.
