BLUEFACE GETS SCHOOLED ABOUT TEXAS CULTURE — SAUCE WALKA PAYS RESPECT TO DALLAS BOOGIE

A viral livestream between Blueface and Sauce Walka unexpectedly became a history lesson about one of Dallas hip-hop’s most influential cultural movements.

While the two rappers exchanged dance moves, Sauce hit the Murda Bend. Blueface referred to it as the “Texas Dougie,” leading Sauce to explain that the Dougie itself came from Texas. Blueface disagreed, believing Cali Swag District introduced the dance, but Sauce quickly pulled up older Dallas videos that left the California rapper visibly surprised.

Although Cali Swag District helped take the dance worldwide with “Teach Me How to Dougie,” its roots trace back to Dallas and Lil Wil’s breakout record “My Dougie.” Dallas cultural accounts credit Big Spain with innovating the original dance before it became a national phenomenon.

Sauce mentioned Mr. Hit Dat as one of the “Dougie Gods.” While Big Spain deserves the more precise credit for innovating the Dougie, Sauce was absolutely correct about Dallas being its birthplace—and Mr. Hit Dat remains one of the undisputed legends of the broader Dallas Boogie Movement.

“DALLAS… MAN, I WILL SHOW YOU THE DOUGIE GODS… YOU CAN’T SHOW ME ONE CAT FROM CALI THAT CAN OUT-DOUGIE THEM.” — SAUCE WALKA

Names such as Mr. Hit Dat, Fat Al and Mr. Club Cirque became household figures during that special era. Their performances and classic videos helped establish the Dallas Boogie Movement as a foundation for dances that continue influencing Texas culture today, including the Murda Bend.

Major respect goes to Sauce Walka for standing on the truth and showing Dallas love despite representing Houston. Sauce is not known as a dancing rapper, but he revealed that he grew up watching and admiring the movement. That alone demonstrates how far Dallas Boogie reached throughout Texas.

This moment was bigger than a livestream debate. It was an opportunity to preserve the history of a culture that should never be overlooked. California helped carry the Dougie to a larger audience—but Dallas created the wave.
