CMG CEO GRIP PASSES AWAY, LEAVING A POWERFUL LEGACY BEHIND THE SCENES

Following reports that he was diagnosed with an aneurysm around mid-August, CMG CEO Grip has passed away, according to credible sources across social media. Although complete details surrounding his passing have not been officially released, the news has sent a wave of grief throughout Southern hip-hop.
Tributes and condolences have poured in from Boosie Badazz, Moneybagg Yo, YFN Lucci, Starlito and others who recognized Grip’s importance to the culture. The Jasmine Report also acknowledged his passing, while Bosstalk 101’s own E CEO offered condolences during his weekly review.
Grip was a longtime business partner and close associate of Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group. While Yo Gotti became the label’s public face, Grip reportedly worked closely behind the scenes, helping manage the business logistics, long-term strategy and artist development that contributed to CMG’s growth.
That foundation helped transform the Memphis-based movement into a major force in hip-hop, representing successful artists such as Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla and 42 Dugg. Grip’s work may not have always taken place in front of the cameras, but his influence could be felt throughout the label’s rise and the careers connected to it.
This is an enormous loss for Memphis, the South and the entire movement. Too often, the people who help build powerful brands from behind the curtain do not receive their flowers publicly. Bosstalk 101 could not allow Grip’s contributions or legacy to go unnoticed.

Bosstalk 101 extends its deepest condolences to CEO Grip’s family, friends, Yo Gotti, the entire CMG family and everyone affected by this loss. Download the Bosstalk 101 App and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more stories honoring the people who helped shape the culture.
