Erica Banks Arrested in Georgia on Drug and Stolen Vehicle Charges
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star and Dallas native Erica Banks was arrested in Brookhaven, Georgia, after a traffic stop led officers to a stolen vehicle and illegal substances in the car.
According to police, the stop began when an officer noticed the vehicle’s license plate was partially covered by a tinted tag cover, which is illegal in Georgia. The car was also riding with dealer plates, which are only valid when driven by dealership employees in vehicles currently listed for sale. A quick check on the plates revealed the car had been reported stolen out of Atlanta, prompting officers to investigate further.
When police searched the vehicle, they asked both the driver and Erica who was seated in the passenger seat, to step out. Officers say they recovered MDMA (Ecstasy) pills in Erica Banks’ purse, while the driver was found with several packets of marijuana.
Both individuals were arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Jail on multiple charges. Erica Banks was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute.
The driver faces charges including theft by receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and improperly displayed license plate.
Erica Banks reps Dallas, TX, and her name has long been tied to the city’s club scene alongside nightlife staples like Lil Ronny MothaF and the late BeatKing, all of whom helped shape the Dallas “Party” sound.
Jail records show both Erica and the driver have since been released. As of now, no statement has been issued by Erica Banks or her team.
