“I Conquered Dallas”: Rain Water on Loyalty, Letdowns, and Leaving Artist Management Behind

Dallas music manager Rain Water is no stranger to Boss Talk 101. Known for his strategic mind and unmatched track record, he stopped by the show once again—this time, with a few things to get off his chest.
From managing MO3 into a household name to negotiating one of the biggest deals in Dallas history for rising star OC Chris, Rain has built a career that demands respect—one stacked with plaques, power moves, and proof.
Now, after things went left with Big E, Rain’s not just done with the drama—he’s done playing manager altogether.
“People get too comfortable at a petty level of the game,” Rain said. “She wasn’t even streaming well. It was just the excitement and attention I was putting on her that made her seem bigger than what she was.”
The tension may have escalated when Big X Tha Plug allegedly told Big E he’d work with her—but only if she stopped working with Rain. This, after knowing her for years without offering support, according to Rain.
“People have their own agendas.”
Rain didn’t hold back, calling out what he sees as a recurring flaw in the industry. Rappers signing under other rappers.
“Big X has never pushed himself, so how could he push an artist? Meanwhile, the new Dallas movement is full of artists grinding hard and pushing themselves.”
He also called out the illusion of quick success, using his late client MO3 as the prime example.
“It took five years to get MO3 signed. People think it happens overnight—I don’t know if it’s who they’re f****** or what. It’s easy for a male to get in a woman’s head.”
He said he poured tens of thousands into Big E—$30K to $40K—without much return, even with songs like “Rack Daddy” only hitting 200K streams on Erica Banks’ channel.
Still under contract with Rain, Big E’s chapter may not be legally over—but emotionally, it’s a wrap.
“I wanted E to stand on her own two feet,” he said. “I didn’t want her to be a South Dallas Keke. I wanted her to touch the world.”

After years of what he now describes as “babysitting,” Rain is stepping away from artist management altogether. Instead, he’s focused on production deals through his label, Legendary Label, which has already made major waves in just one year.
“OC Chris just signed the biggest deal in Dallas history—in eight months. I went in that h*e negotiating some s**t because I spent five years waiting on this opportunity.”
The doubts only fueled him.
“People said I’d never find another MO3. That motivated me. I conquered Dallas. Ain’t no manager got more plaques than me. Ain’t no manager got more people signed than me. Ain’t no manager got more connections than me.”
He continued, but we definitely get it.
His formula?
“I just pay my tithes. I don’t sign a rapper unless they believe in God.”
These days, Rain isn’t looking for another MO3—he’s looking for a her. He admits he’s still hoping to find the right female artist, one who’s not just talented but grounded, focused, and ready for the long game.
They also touched on a range of other topics, but you’ll have to watch the full interview on Boss Talk 101 to catch every gem.
