Keefe D Trial Update: His Own Words Could Come Back To Bite Him.

When we last checked in on the Keefe D case, the question was whether nearly 30 years of interviews, allegations and unanswered questions surrounding Tupac Shakur’s murder would finally hold up inside a courtroom.

Now, the jury is seated, opening statements are over, witnesses are taking the stand , and Keefe D’s own words may be at the center of the case against him.

As we covered in Part One, the case traces back to September 7, 1996.

After the Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand, Tupac, Suge Knight and members of their entourage were captured on surveillance footage attacking Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson , which is Keefe D’s nephew.

Prosecutors say what happened next was retaliation.

Hours later, a white Cadillac pulled alongside the BMW carrying Tupac and Suge.

Shots rang out.

Tupac was hit four times.

Six days later, at only 25 years old, he was dead.

Keefe D isn’t accused of pulling the trigger.

Prosecutors say he helped orchestrate the retaliation and was inside the Cadillac when Tupac was shot.

This is where this trial gets wild.

Did Keefe D Talk Himself Into a Murder Trial?

For YEARS, Keefe D talked.

Interviews. Documentaries. His memoir.

He repeatedly placed himself inside the story, and even inside the Cadillac that night.

Now prosecutors are taking statements that have fueled hip-hop debates and documentaries and putting them in front of a jury.

Essentially:

You told the world what happened. Now answer for it.

Keefe’s defense has one hell of a counterargument:

Don’t believe him.

Keefe D’s attorneys argue that he exaggerated and embellished his involvement for money, attention and notoriety.

So after nearly three decades of speculation, jurors are being asked to answer a question nobody probably expected:

Was Keefe D confessing or was he clout chasing?

The trial has also begun reconstructing Tupac’s final hours.

On August 18, forensic pathologist Dr. Lisa Gavin testified about the devastating injuries Tupac suffered in the shooting.

Some members of Tupac’s family reportedly left the courtroom before autopsy photographs were displayed.

Beneath all the conspiracy theories, documentaries and street gossip, the testimony brings the story back to reality..

A 25-year-old man was killed, and his family has waited almost 30 years to see someone stand trial for it.

We can’t do anything but watch as it all unfolds.
