THE COUNTDOWN TO THE ROAST OF WILLIE D HAS BEGUN

COOKED BY LEGENDS — HOSTED BY THE KING OF COMEDY, D.L. HUGHLEY

The countdown is heating up for a night celebrating Houston hip-hop history, comedy and one of the culture’s most outspoken voices. On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Geto Boys legend Willie D will take center stage at The Roast of Willie D: Cooked by Legends, at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. CT, and tickets are available through ATG Tickets.

Hosted by the King of Comedy, D.L. Hughley, the event brings together comedy and music to celebrate Willie D’s 60th birthday and a career that helped put Southern hip-hop on the national map. Cedric the Entertainer and Ali Siddiq are among the featured names, with other artists and special guests joining the lineup. The night is also set to be recorded live for television.

Bosstalk 101 recently caught up with Willie D backstage at the Ridin’ Dirty 30th anniversary concert. Known for his direct delivery and fearless presence, he helped give Texas and the South a voice that never had to shrink itself for another coast. Now, he’s inviting friends to share stories, jokes and a few playful shots in honor of his milestone birthday.

During a recent appearance on 97.9 The Box, Willie D shared that being the target of jokes isn’t his usual role—but he’s ready to get his own jokes in and have the final say. That promise sets the stage for a roast with plenty of history behind it, and a guest of honor who knows how to speak his mind.

This is more than a birthday celebration. It’s a moment to recognize Willie D’s lasting impact on Houston, Southern hip-hop and the culture at large. The countdown has begun—Sugar Land is getting ready for a legendary night.
